cheap ultrasonic depth sensor transducer for depth mesurement
1. Introduction
Underwater sounder transducer uses ultrasonic waves to transmits underwater, and is reflected back when they meet measured object. It can detect distance between the sensor and the measured object and then transmits to ships, buoys, underwater unmanned aerial vehicles, etc. As a depth sounder, it can also be used for underwater distance measurement.
The product protection level reaches IP68 level, and it can be soaked for a long time underwater 100 meters without damage. (Note that the cable outlet part of the instrument needs to be reliably sealed after wiring to avoid water )
2. the principle of measurement
The ultrasonic wave is emitted by the ultrasonic probe ,and transmits through the water when it encounters the target to be measured, and then returns to the ultrasonic probe through the water after reflect, because the time of transmission and reception can be known, according to formula , time ×sound speed ÷ 2 = The distance from the launch surface to the measured target.
Calculation formula: D = C × t / 2
(Divided by 2 is because the sound wave is actually a round trip from launch to reception, D is the distance, C is the speed of sound, and t is the time). If the time difference between transmission and reception is 0.01 second, the sound speed under fresh water with normal temperature is 1500 m/s.
1500 m / s × 0.01 sec = 15 m
15 meters ÷ 2 = 7.50 meters
That is, the distance between the emitting surface of the probe and the target to be measured is 7.5 meters.
