What’s the production process of piezoelectric ceramic

The technological process of piezoelectric ceramic is as follows: Ingredients - mixing and grinding - pre-sintering - secondary grinding - granulation - molding - plasticizing - sintering into porcelain - shape processing - being electrode - high pressure polarization --Aging test.


1. the ingredients: pre-treatment, which removes the impurities, and then weigh the various raw materials according to the proportion of the formula, paying attention to a small amount of additives should be placed in the middle of the bulk.


2. Mixing and grinding: The purpose is to mix various raw materials and prepare conditions for complete solid phase reaction for pre-firing. Generally, dry grinding or wet grinding of porous piezoelectric ceramic is adopted. Dry grinding can be carried out in the small batches, and agitation ball milling or airflow pulverization can be adopted in the large batches with high efficiency.

3. Pre-burning: The purpose is to conduct solid-phase reaction of various raw materials at high temperature to synthesize piezoelectric ceramics. This process is very important. Which directly affect the sintering conditions and the performance of the final product.


4. the second fine grinding: the purpose is to re-sinter the pre-fired piezoelectric ceramic powder and finely grind it to lay a good foundation for the uniform performance of the porcelain.


5. Granulation: The purpose is to form a high density of fluid particles with good density. The method can be carried out manually with low efficiency, and the efficient method is spray granulation. This process involves the addition of a binder.

6. Molding: The purpose is to press the pelletized material into the desiring preformed blank. 

7. Distorting: The purpose is to remove the binder adding during granulation from the blank.

8. Sintering into porcelain: The blank is sealed and sintered into porcelain at high temperature. This link is very important. 

9. shape processing: grinding the finished product to the required finished product size.

10. Electrode: Placing a conductive electrode on the desired piezoelectric ceramic transducer surface. The general methods are silver layer infiltration, chemical deposition and vacuum coating.

11. High voltage polarization: The piezo ceramic domains are aligned, so that the ceramic has piezoelectric properties.



12. Aging test: After the performance of piezoceramic element vibrator sensor is stable, the indicators are tested to see if the expected performance requirements are met. Piezoelectric ceramics are characterized by polarization treatment of ferroelectric ceramics under a direct current electric field to have a piezoelectric effect. Generally, the polarization electric field is 3 to 5 kV/mm, the temperature is 100 to 150 ° C, and the time is 5 to 20 min. These three are the main factors affecting the polarization effect. Piezoelectric element ceramic transducer with better performance, such as lead zirconate titanate ceramics can have an electromechanical coupling coefficient about 0.313 to 0.694.
