Piezoelectric jet printer is also called high-resolution jet printer or high-resolution image jet printer. On the integrated nozzle, 128 or more piezoelectric crystals control multiple nozzle holes on the nozzle board respectively. Through CPU processing, a series of electrical signals are output to each piezoelectric crystal through the driving board. The piezoelectric crystal is deformed, so the ink is ejected from the nozzle and falls on the moving object. The surface of the product forms a dot matrix, thus forming words, numbers or graphics. Then, the piezoelectric crystal is restored to its original state. Because of the surface tension of the ink, the new ink enters the nozzle. Because the ink dot density per square centimeter is very high, the application of piezoelectric technology can print high-quality text, complex logo and bar code information.
Proprietary inkjet technology uses a piezo ceramic ring transducer at the rear of the ink reservoir. This is rather like a loudspeaker cone that flexes when an electric current flows through it. So whenever a dot is required, a current is applied to the Piezo element which then flexes and, in so doing, forces a drop of ink out of the nozzle.
There are several advantages to the Piezo method. The process permits greater control over the shape and size of the released ink droplet. The minuscule fluctuations in the crystal allow for smaller droplet sizes and hence higher nozzle density. Unlike thermal technology, the ink does not have to be heated and cooled between each cycle. This saves time, and the ink itself is geared more for its absorption properties than its ability to withstand high temperatures. This enables greater freedom in developing new types of inks.
