What are the common detection methods of ultrasonic transducers?

As a detection device, the ultrasonic range transducers can not only sense the measuring information, but also convert the sensed information into electrical signals or other required forms of information output according to certain rules, but the sensor output signal should be easy to transmit information, it is processing, storage, display, recording and control requirements.

With the development of electronics and microelectronics technology, the development of sensors is also changing with each passing day. People use more piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers in the production life, and there are more and more types. For example: it is wireless sensors, radar sensors, infrared light temperature sensors, geomagnetic magnetic objects detection sensor, special light source sensor: a sensor dedicated to measuring water. Ultrasonic sensors belong to the most widely used category of sensors. Ultrasonic sensors use the characteristics of ultrasonic technology to perform sensing work.

The application of ultrasonic sensor detection according to the volume, material, and whether it is movable or not of the detected object including presence detection,it is detection of object presence/position/counting; color detection: detection of color/density of different objects; size measurement: length/ width/height/thickness/temperature/distance; correction detection: appearance detection. However, the detection methods are used by different ultrasonic sensors. There are four common detection methods as follows:

Penetrating type: The transmitter and receiver are located on both sides, and when the object is to be detected between them, the detection is performed according to the attenuation (or occlusion) of the ultrasonic wave.

Ultrasonic distance transducers: the ultrasonic transmitters and receivers are located on the same side, and when the detected object passes within the limited distance, detection sensor is carried out according to the reflected ultrasonic waves.

Ultrasonic range sensors have transmitter and receiver are located in the center of the limited range, the reflector is located at the edge of the limited range, and the attenuation value of the reflected wave when there is no object to be detected is used as the reference value. When the object to be detected passes within the limited range, the detection is carried out according to the attenuation of the reflected wave (comparing the attenuation value with the reference value).

Retro-reflective type: The transmitter and receiver are located on the same side, and the detection object (plane object) is used as the reflection surface, and the detection is performed according to the attenuation of the reflected wave.

Based on the above method, the state of a ultrasonic sensor can be detected. If accurate detection is required, it is necessary to use different detection methods and standard .ultrasonic sensors according to different occasions for the detection of the ultrasonic sensor, the ultrasonic sensor is calibrated according to the changes of the detected environment and the output signal. And when conditions permit, the relevant parameters were tested for temperature.
