The crystal grains inside piezoelectric ceramics have many spontaneously polarized electric domains, and they have a certain polarization direction. When there is no external electric field, the electric domains are randomly distributed in the crystal, and their polarization effects are canceled out. The internal polarization of piezo ceramics is zero, so the original piezoelectric ceramics are neutral and do not have piezoelectric properties.

 

When an external electric field is applied to piezoceramic tube, the polarization direction of the electric domains is rotated and tends to be arranged according to the direction of the external electric field, so that the material is polarized.

 

The stronger the external electric field, the more electric domains will turn to the direction of the external electric field; when the external electric field is strong enough to saturate the polarization of the pzt material, that is, the polarization directions of the electric domains are neatly aligned with the direction of the external electric field. When they are consistent, after the external electric field of piezoelectric transducer is removed, the polarization direction of the electric domain is basically unchanged, and the pzt material at this time has piezoelectric properties, which is the polarization process of piezoelectric ceramics.
